privilege

i leave for cuba in just over a month so preparations are beginning. this morning i had an early appointment to get my vaccinations - tetanus, hepatitis a & b and cholera. when krista, the nurse, set these little bottles of dukoral in front of me and explained how to use them, i almost wept. i understand how privileged i am to be able to go to public health and protect myself from these deadly diseases. so simple yet so unattainable for those who need them most.
