look what i won!

one of my resolutions this year is to give myself permission to knit for me (i knit for a living so that's more difficult than it sounds). and for my family. i've been longing to knit a pair of socks. yesterday i won this luscious skein of sock yarn fromtanis fiber (it was a blog giveaway) so that will be my next project after finishing lucy's sweater. (tanis is a quebec dyer and her yarn can be found on her website or at a good yarn in st. john's.
front porch update. the tiles are laid and brian will come back tomorrow to grout and plaster up some blemishes in the walls for us to paint.

and here is the chickpea cutlet recipe (a few of you have asked for it)
mash up 1 cup of chickpeas (with a masher - just to break them up)
add: 2 T olive oil
1/2 c. vital wheat gluten (you can get that at dominion)
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/4 c. veggie broth
2 T soy sauce
2 cloves garlic pressed
1/2 t. lemon zest
1/2 t. dried thyme
1/2 t. paprika
1/4 t sage
combine all the ingredients and knead for about 3 minutes
divide cutlet dough into 4 equal parts. to form the cutlets make a rectangle of each piece in your hand and then pat out so they're about 4"x6"
cook in a frying pan in a little olive oil (add more if needed). about 6-7 minutes on each side until they're lightly browned.
yum yum.

Congratulations on winning the beautiful yarn from Tanis! I had entered my name for the giveaway also, and yesterday I saw your name on her blog as the winner!
