pushing back the darkness

winter solstice. and the celebration of light returning. this year i'm bringing more light into the house. we haven't had a christmas tree for the past few years but i decided i wanted one this year.

with more lights on it than ever before. i turn them on when i get up in the morning. and spin in their glow until the house brightens up.

i've decided to take a holiday today. one of the perks of being self-employed. i'll spend the day finishing up a gift for keith. and reading. i gave myself a liesurely candlelit breakfast. happy winter solstice everyone.

And to you too! Within darkness, there is light...

everything looks wonderful. We are having a forced vacation day today - iced in until it melts later today. I'll finish the edge on my owl rug and start a new one using your yarn "sunny periods", how fitting, for a day like today for my next in the owl series. Have a great Christmas! Joni
