a reunion of mind and body

i'm on my own this weekend so i decided to turn it into a mini-retreat. the past 2 weeks have been hectic and stressful. i need quiet time. so yesterday abigail and i went for a good walk early in the morning. i came home and made some great wholewheat/oatmeal/seed bread. a pot of miso soup to last the weekend. and a batch of hummus. i've been experimenting with hummus lately (since i'm not eating eggs or cheese) - trying to keep things interesting. yesterday i went to the garden and brought in chives and garlic tops to add to it - lovely being able to use fresh produce already. this batch also has grated carrot and red pepper in it. and a little salsa to moisten the chickpeas and give it that beautiful colour.
and as i spun yesterday i listened to a couple of dharma talks by thich nhat hanh. to make the whole experience more authentic, the furnace broke down yesterday morning (we desperately need a new one) so there's no hot water and the house is cold (except in the living room where we have a propane stove). it definitely feels like a retreat...

sorry to hear it's cold in the house... there's SNOW on the ground here this morning. Cold here too.
I love your lungwort skein. My garden is full of it, I love the way there can be pink and blue flowers at the same time.
