a postal strike is looming in canada. it can happen as early as tomorrow. i run a small business here and use canada post alot. i mail out all my yarn orders and etsy shop sales with canada post. most of my materials arrive through canada post. and my payment. so i'm sitting here this morning trying to figure out what to do now. how do i get this finished order to st. john's in a costly fashion? when will i receive money that i'm owed? how can i keep my business running smoothly while canada post figures out what it's going to do? if only i had a little red plane

Magical!
It used to be possible to put a box on the bus on the west coast and send it by land to St. John's. I remember helping Ray and Delia Will send orders like that. Might be an option for in-province transport. If you bank at an institution that has a branch in town, you can get a friend to pick up your cheques and deposit the for you, as long as they have your acct number and name on the acct. They can even do it without looking into the envelope, as most banks will put the cheque in and then put the stub and deposit receipt in a sealed envelope, if privacy is a concern
thanks vicki. i'm sure we'll all figure something out. we tend to...
I wish you had a little red plane, too, and you could come visit. Hope the postal people get things worked out and cause you no grief. (PS Thanks for that little video...it is very special.)
Hi shawrn
Let's hope the strike is short lived. I have been sending and receiving money directly thru my bank. No account numbers. Or any important info is needed just an email account and a major bank that you do on line banking with It is a great safe system and transfers are instant. There is no excuse anyone not paying a bill anymore! Good luck!
