i am constantly looking for local plants that dye up into something other than pale yellow. you can shift the colour slightly by using mordants other than alum (like iron or copper) but it's basically in the same colour range. so here are two new ones (for me) - pearly everlasting and caribou moss. nice pale yellows...

Are the natural dyes permamnent when washed in today's chemical detergents?
